Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati & Travel to Shillong
Arrive at Guwahati Airport (GAU) and drive to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, known as the “Scotland of the East”.
Day 2: Shillong Local Sightseeing
Explore local attractions in Shillong including the Don Bosco Museum (for regional culture and history), Shillong Peak (for panoramic views), and Elephant Falls.
Day 3: Excursion to Cherrapunji (Sohra)
Drive to Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on Earth Visit the stunning Nohkalikai Falls (India’s highest plunge waterfall) and the Seven Sisters Falls.
Day 4: Dawki & Mawlynnong Day Trip
Travel to Mawlynnong, acclaimed as Asia’s cleanest village. Explore the village and trek to the nearby single or double-decker Living Root Bridge in Rewai village.
Day 5: Shillong to Kaziranga National Park
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for the one-horned rhinoceros.
Day 6: Wildlife Safaris in Kaziranga
Start the day with an early morning elephant safari (subject to availability) for an up-close wildlife experience.
Day 7: Kaziranga to Majuli Island
Drive to the Nimati Ghat and take a ferry to Majuli, the world’s largest river island and a hub of Neo-Vaishnavite Assamese culture.
Day 8: Majuli & Travel to Guwahati
Explore more of Majuli, including meeting the Mishing tribal community and watching traditional mask making or pottery.
Day 9: Guwahati City Tour
Visit the ancient Kamakhya Temple located atop the Nilachal Hill. Explore other city attractions like the Umananda Temple. In the evening, enjoy a sunset river cruise on the Brahmaputra.
Day 10: Departure from Guwahati
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer to the Guwahati Airport for your onward journey.
