Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Bangkok
Arrive at Bangkok airport (BKK or DMK) and transfer to your hotel. Settle in and explore the area around your accommodation.
Day 2: Bangkok Temples & Culture
Start your morning with a visit to the Grand Palace and the adjacent Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha). Walk to Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha) and consider a traditional Thai massage there.
Day 3: Markets and City Exploration
Take a half-day trip to the unique Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and the Maeklong Railway Market (where stalls clear the tracks for a passing train). Arrive early to beat the crowds and heat. Return to Bangkok in the afternoon for some shopping at modern malls like Siam Paragon or Central World, or visit the Jim Thompson House for a dose of art and history.
Day 4: Travel North to Chiang Mai
Take a morning flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai (approx. 1.5 hours). Upon arrival and hotel check-in, spend the afternoon exploring the ancient temples within the Old City walls, such as Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang.
Day 5: Ethical Elephant Sanctuary & Cooking Class
Spend the day at an ethical elephant sanctuary, such as Elephant Nature Park or the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary, where you can feed, walk with, and bathe rescued elephants (riding is not permitted at ethical sanctuaries).
Day 6: Temples and Doi Inthanon National Park
Visit the stunning mountain-top Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple in the morning for panoramic views of the city.
Day 7: Travel South to Phuket
Take a morning flight from Chiang Mai to Phuket (approx. 2 hours). Transfer to your beach resort, settle in, and spend the rest of the day relaxing on a beautiful beach like Karon or Kata.
Day 8: Island Hopping to Phi Phi Islands
Embark on a full-day speedboat tour to the iconic Phi Phi Islands and Maya Bay (famous from the movie “The Beach”).
Day 9: Phang Nga Bay and Local Sights
Take another day trip to Phang Nga Bay to see the dramatic limestone karsts, including the famous James Bond Island.
Day 10: Departure Day
Enjoy a final Thai breakfast and some last-minute souvenir shopping or beach time. Transfer to Bangkok International Airport for your departure, ensuring you allow plenty of time for traffic and check-in.
